Over the past three months millions of people have become victims of the devastating effects of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria as well as the ever growing wildfires in the western United States. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families as they work to process and recover from these widespread tragedies. Please apply using the link on the LHF website at www. The Leather Heart Foundation is honored to serve our community and looks forward to continuing to provide these services. The increased demand for services provided by the Leather Heart Foundation, however, has spread our all-volunteer organization thin and depleted our finances. Thus, in our effort to fulfill our mission and enhance our ability to provide assistance to those in need, we have decided to take time to restructure our organization, seek additional volunteers to help us review the growing number of applications we see, and rebuild our coffers through fund raising. To that end, we enacted a temporary stop on new applications for assistance in January This pause on new applications is temporary while we reorganize.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Studio Monitors to a Laptop Sign in to disable this ad Alright, just moved into my dorm in college and left my computer behind because I got a new laptop and trying to save as much space with this small ass room. Now, I’m investing slowly in a pair of studio monitors but my question is when I get them can I hook them up just like regular speakers?

Now I see usually have to buy them single not in a pair, so If I orders 2 monitors would there be two cables to plug into the laptop, like a Left and Right. Now, I’m not to good with computer hardware termonology.. So I’m going to sound like a dummy here. I have my computer speakers right now pluged into a slot that has a headphones logo, and then another cord plugged in directly to the subwoofer, theres another slot right next to it with a microphone logo but if I plug it into there nothing comes out.

I have the other speaker that connects to the back of the subwoofer then the sub woofer to power outlet.

The monitors I revived for review have just enough weight to them, and they feel very high in quality as you hold them. Let me tell you a few things about this review. PreSonus agreed to the idea but only after I agreed to send them back after the review is done. Please know, I reached out to PreSonus out of my uncontrollable curiosity. This article is about how to connect studio monitors to your PC. Connecting your studio monitors to your PC can save you a lot of time, effort, and money. Plus, the quality of the music is barely affected.

XLR cables are balanced inputs used primarily to connect your microphones to your mic preamps. You may also see these referred to as “Microphone Cable”. In short you have 2 pins transmitting your signal in such a way as to cancel out any noise introduced into the cable, and 1 pin to ground which acts as a voltage reference. Though that may sound complicated, it’s actually an elegant, inexpensive, and simple way to eliminate unwanted signals from being transmitted.

This connector is compatible with both standard XLR inputs as well as combo inputs, which are becoming more and more of a standard feature on newer audio interfaces. These combo inputs are great because it allows much more flexibility in how you use your mic preamps on your audio interface. These cables also deliver the phantom power if you are using a condenser microphone from the phantom power source on your mixing console or audio interface.

The beauty is that you don’t need a dedicated power line to hook up your mic, which is great because it doesn’t take long to create a mess of cables that will rival the “annual untangling of the Christmas lights” routine. Don’t get me wrong, the cable mess is almost unavoidable, but you can eliminate at least 1 power cord using the XLR’s phantom power carrying capacity to your advantage.

Between microphones, direct boxes, and studio monitors you’ll definitely need more than a few of these XLR cables for your home studio setup. Remember that you don’t need to spend a fortune on these as they can get expensive in a hurry.

How to Connect Two Monitors to One Computer

How to Make a Cheap Recording Studio As computer technology has developed, more and more performance is possible on a lower and lower budget. As a result, building a simple home recording studio around your existing computer can be quite inexpensive. I bought 2 pioneer studio monitors (sdjX) but I don’t know if i need an audio interface to get the best sound. I was told that I could connect it with just a connector from jack to mini jack. Is.

Posted 20 September – Back in the analog days there was a little set of 5″ cube speakers that everyone checked their final mixes on The 5″ speakers were Auratones or Horrortones as they were affectionately known and just about every studio in the world had and probably still has a pair. There was a programme on TV recently about Quincy Jones and they spoke about them on there. Funnily enough I’ve just spent the afternoon making myself a pair of speakers loosely based on their design, I’m using a pair of car speakers in small wooden boxes I picked up at Ikea they’re actually plant pot holders!

The reason I want them is to see how recordings sound on a cheap system or a car stereo. I imagine a high proportion of music nowadays is listened to on iPod or car stereos or computer speakers and none of them are that good so it is really important to know how your mixes will translate to a similar system. I’ve also discovered lately the importance of checking a mix on iPod type earphones, if you mix on a pair of monitors with 12″ or 15″ woofers chances are the bass will be completely missing on an iPod.
